Penn Women Win Ivy Heps For Ninth Time; For Princeton It's No. 25 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Photos courtesy Princeton and Penn Nicholas Bendtsen of Princeton won the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters and helped the Tigers win their ninth consecutive Indoor Ivy Heps on Sunday at Harvard. Graham Blanks, who broke the NCAA record when he ran 13:03 in early December, has not raced since then. In Blanks' absence, Bendtsen won the 3,000 in 7:54.81 and the 5,000 in 14:01.76. Samuel Rodman won the 800 for Princeton in 1:48.65 and Collin Boler (2:22.28) and Harrison Witt (2:22.44) went 1-2 in the 1,000. Jackson Clarke led a 1-2-3 finish for Princeton in the 200 meters with 21.15. Princeton won the title with 162 points. Cornell was next with 105 and Penn was third with 104. Brad Morrell of Cornell won the shot put by four centimeters over Columbia's Obiora Okeke with 60-8.50 (18.50m) and he also won the weight throw with 72-3 (22.02). Ryan Matulonis from Penn broke an all-time Ivy record in the 500 meters with 1:01.22. The Penn women edged Princeton 138-126 to win the program's ninth Ivy Heps Indoor title. Sophomore Moforehan Abinusawa swept the 60 and 200 and her teammates Isabella Whittaker and Christiana Nwachuku were part of 1-2-3 finishes in both events. Abinusawa's 7.25 clocking in the 60 was a meet record. Whittaker also won the 400 (52.54) with a meet record. Penn's sprint corps also won the 4x440 yard relay. Harvard's Maia Ramsden, the NCAA outdoor 1,500-meter champion and collegiate leader in the mile this winter, won the 3,000 meters in 9:19.76. She also anchored the winning DMR for the Crimson. Freshman Sophia Gorriaran won the 800 meters for Harvard in 2:04.56. Columbia's Nicole Vanasse won the mile in 4:36.52. Tessa Mudd from Princeton jumped 14-4.75 (4.39m) to win the pole vault with an Ivy record clearance. |
